Charades

TermDefinition
Near-death Experience An altered state of consciousness reported after a close brush with death, often similar to drug induced hallucinations.
Addiction Compulsive drug craving and use, despite adverse consequences.
Withdrawl The discomfort and distress that follow discontinuing the use of an addictive drug
Tolerance The diminishing effect with regular use of the same dose of a drug requiring the user to take larger and larger doses before experiencing the drugs effect
Alcohol Dependence Alcohol use marked by tolerance and withdrawal if suspended, and a drive to continue use.
Hypnosis Social interaction in which one person suggests to another that certain perceptions, feelings, thoughts or behaviors will spontaneously occur. Hints: Can relieve pain, inhibits all brain activity.
Stimulus Any event or situation that evokes a response. (See lightning; anticipate loud noise, wincing)
Positive Reinforcement Increasing behaviors by presenting positive reinforces.
Negative Reinforcement Increasing behaviors by stopping or reducing negative stimuli.(increase behavior, reduce negative behavior)
Punishment An event that tends to decrease the behavior that it follows.
Observational Learning Learning by observing others.
Modeling The process of observing and imitating a specific behavior
Zygote The fertilized egg; it enters a 2-week period of rapid cell division and develops into an embryo.(This is the first stage of three in prenatal development)
Extinction The diminishing of a conditioned response.
Shaping An operant conditioning procedure in which reinforces guide behavior toward closer and closer approximations of the desired behavior. (operant conditioning, desired behavior)
