| CCT | developed by Carl Rogers and uses active listening in a genuine, accepting, empathic environment |
| Active Listening | empathic listening in which the listener echoes, restates, and clarifies what a patient has said |
| Counterconditioning | behavior therapy that uses classical conditioning to evoke new responses to stimuli that trigger unwanted behaviors and includes exposure therapies and aversive conditioning |
| Systematic Desensitization | type of exposure therapy that associates a pleasant relaxed state with gradually increasing anxiety-triggering stimuli. Used to treat phobias |
