Gustav Theodor Fechner was the pioneer of psycho-physics. What are some of his main contributions? Attempted to understand afterimages in the visual system. Also introduced the JND (just noticeable difference, method of limits, and quantification & experimentation to the study of these psychological phenomena.

What was the main goal of structuralism? Describe the structure of the mind by analyzing it's elements.
Who is Wilhelm Maximillian Wundt, and what are some of his contributions? Established the first psychological institute at the University of Leipzig.
Wundt established the new field of "Physiological Psychology". Describe this. The study of subjective mental experience in relation to physiology.
Edward Titchener was Wundt's student and a major contributor to structuralism. Describe some of his contributions. Brought Structuralism to America. Advocated a pure psychology, authoritative personality, introduced elementary mental processes, and introspection.

What happened after Titchener died? He had ignored animal studies, abnormal psychology, personality, learning, developmental psychology and evolutionary theory. Because of his refusal of applied psychology, many of his ideas died along with him.

One major contributor to the field of clinical psychology is Emil Kraepelin. Describe some of his contributions. He was an MD, 1878 with Wundt. In 1883 developed a classification of mental disorders through tracking progression of symptoms and studying substance dependence. He took an organic (biological) approach to psychopathology.
