how is temp. measured? in degrees celsius by a maximum and minimum thermometer.
what is a maximum and minimum thermometer? a glass tube containing mercury and temps rise mercury rises on the max. side of the instrument, when temps fall they are recorded on the min. side of the thermometer.
tell me about a stevenson screen. temperatures from a stephenson screen are measured in the shade, to do this max. and min. thermometrs are shaded in a special box called a stephenson screen.
what does a hygrometer do? it measures relative humidity, which is the amount of water vapour in the air.
how do you calculate the mean annual temperature? add the average temp. of each month and divide by 12.
how do you calculate the annual temp. range? the average temp of the hottest month minus the average temp of the coldest month.
tell me about a wind vane. it shows wind direction.
what does an anemometer or a beaufort scale do? measures the speed and strenght of wind.
what does a campbell stokes recorder do? it measures the hours of sunshine per day.
what does a rain gauge do? measures rainfall in millimetres.
