What is a generator? Generators use mechanical energy to produce electrical energy. They produce electric current when a coil of a wire is wrapped around an iron core and is rotated near a magnet
How do generators produce electricity? Generators at power plants power plants produce electricity for homes and businesses. Turbines are huge wheels that rotate when pushed by water (hydroelectricity), wind (wind mills), or Steam (fossil fuels, nuclear, chemical, and geothermal energy).
What is an electro-magnet? An electro-magnet is formed when a wire in an electric current is wrapped around an iron core producing a magnetic field. The strength will increase with the number of coils wrapped around the magnet.
What is a magnetic field? The area that surrounds a magnet and excerpts magnetic force through other magnets
What is a simple electric motor? An electric motor turns electrical energy into mechanical energy. it contains an electromagnet that rotates between the poles of a magnet. the coil of the electromagnet is connected to a battery or other source of electric current.
