The equator divides the globe into 2 halves called hemispheres
Our planets land surface is organized into 7 large landmasses called continents
Landmasses that are completely surrounded by water are called islands
Major oceans in our world are Atlantic, Pacific, Artic and the Indian
Relative location decribes position of a place in relationship to another place.
Absolute location is the exact location means the spot where the place is, like longitude/latitude.
Regions are areas that have shared characteristics
Cartography is the study of maps
If I were concerned about global warming, I may study climatolgy, the atmospheric conditions of the earth
Objects that travel around the sun are said to be in orbit
It takes a ________for the Earth to orbit the sun. year, or 365 days
The earth's atmosphere has a form of oxygen called the ozone
The circulation of the water from the Earth's surface to the atmosphere and back is called the water cycle
Any smaller river that flows into a larger river is called a tributary
Groundwater sometimes contains poisons from factories. What is groundwater? Water that has not evaporated and then it seeps into the ground.
Another word for magma or melted rock is Lava
When 2 of earth's plates collide, one can be pushed upwards causing Earthquakes
Slow moving rivers of ice are called Glaciers
The difference between climate and weather is Climate is the weather over a period of time.
The process of trapping Earth's atmosphere thus causing the storing of heat is called The Greenhouse effect.
