Academic Vocab Cards

QuestionAnswer
Antagonist A person who actively opposes or is hostile to someone or something; an adversary.
Annotation A note of explanation or comment added to a text or diagram.
Argument An exchange of diverging or opposite views, typically a heated or angry one.
Conflict A serious disagreement or argument, typically a protracted one.
Flashback A scene in a movie, novel, etc., set in a time earlier than the main story.
Mood A temporary state of mind or feeling.
Inference A conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning.
Genre A category of artistic composition, as in music or literature, characterized by similarities in form, style, or subject matter.
Irony The expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.
Bias Prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.
