Matter Cards

Definitions of Matter, Atoms, and Molecules

TermsDefinitions
Atoms The "building blocks" of the universe which are things used to create everything including molecules.
Molecules The substances created through atoms when they make up a covalent bond. Example: H2O
Element An element is a single substance said to be created through supernova explosions.
Compound A compound is a substance created by two or more substances such as H2O.
Matter The very thing that makes up everything in the universe and has three states known as the states of matter which are: solids, liquids, and gases.
