Matter vocab

QuestionAnswer
Atom A basic unit of matter that has a nucleus with protons and neutron, and electrons around the nucleus.
Matter Matter is everything around us. It is made up by atoms and molecules. Has mass and takes up space. Cannot be created or destroyed.
Molecule Made up of 2 or more atoms held together by a chemical bond.
Element atoms or molecules made up of a single type of atom.
Compound molecules made up of 2 or more different types of atoms
Pure Substance made up of one type of matter (can be element or molecule)
Mixture a substance made up of multiple types of matter.
Heterogeneous Mixture a mixture where the particles are NOT even;y distributed
Homogeneous Mixture a mixture where the particles are evenly distributed
