Matter

Definitions

TermDefinition
Atoms Atoms are made up of protons, electrons, and neutrons. Atoms make up molecules.
Molecules Molecules are made up of two or more atoms and form matter.
Matter Matter is what is formed by molecules and atoms. Matter is what everything in the world is made up of
Elements Elements are atoms of one type that when combined with atoms of different types make compounds.
Compounds Compounds are a mixture of elements. They are made when an at least one or more atoms of different elements are combined.
Heterogeneous Heterogeneous mixtures are mixtures that the particles are not evenly distributed
Homogeneous homogeneous mixtures are mixtures that the particles are evenly distributed
Pure Substance A pure substance is when an element is in the purest form.
