Class. of Matter

TermDefinition
Atom an atoms is the the smallest component of an element
Molecule the smallest physical unit of an element or compound
Matter has mass and takes up space
Element a substance that can stand alone as a whole
Compound two or more elements combined together
Pure Substance A substance made up of one type of matter. Can be an element or compound.
Mixture A substance made up of multiple types of matter and has variable composition.
Homogeneous A mixture where the particles are evenly distributed. ex. Koolaid
