Describing Words

Term Definition
Matter a substance that takes up space and has matter and distinguishes energy.
Atom A basic chemical element and makes up a molecule.
Molecule A group of atoms put together, representing a chemical compound that takes part in a chemical reaction.
Element A part of something that is abstract and is a characteristic and is apart of the periodic table.
Compound Something that is put together from two or more elements and its a mixture.
Mixture A substance made by mixing other things together.
Pure Substance A substance made up of one type of matter and it can be a element or a compound, and has a constant composition.
Homogeneous Mixture A mixture where the particles are evenly distributed.
Heterogeneous Mixture A mixture where the particles are not evenly distributed.
