Matter

Matter, Atoms, Molecules, Element, Compound, etc.

TermDefinition
Matter Makes up all observable physical objects.
Atom Basic unit of matter
Molecule Group of two or more atoms held together by chemical bonds.
Element Pure chemical substance made from a single atom (one element).
Compound Pure chemical substance made from 2 or more elements.
Pure Substance Made of one type of matter (element OR compound). Has a constant composition.
Mixture Made of multiple types of matter. Variable composition.
Homogeneous Mixture Particles ARE EVENLY distributed.
Heterogeneous Mixture Particles are NOT EVENLY distributed.
