Estuaries Where the river meets the sea.
Inlets The channels of water in between barrier islands.
Barrier islands Islands that protect the mainland from storms and are made of built up sand.
Beaches The place where the land meats sea usually made of sand.
Waves Repeated movement in the water in up and down motions.
Currents Continuous movements of water in the ocean.
Tides Rising and falling of the water level caused by the moons and suns gravity
Neap tides Lower high tides and higher low tides
Spring tides Higher high tides and lower low tides.
Ocean shore zone Where the land meets the sea
Crest The highest part of the wave
Trough The lowest part of the waves
Salt marsh Large marsh flats in salt water that act as filters.
Brackish water A mix of salt and fresh water usually found in estuaries.
Sea level The level of the surface of the water when there are no waves
