What is Structuralism? Edward Titchener- Wundt’s student Early school of psychology that attempted to discover the basic elements (structures) of the human mind Tried to record the ways and reactions of the human mind
Problems with the school by Edward Titchener People were not able to tell their feelings in words Results were never consistent because individuals would have different experience and explanations
What did William James do? found functionalism. School of Psychology that focused on the functions of the mind and behavior in adapting to the environment
What is the scientific method? Idea Hypothesis data collection data analyses
What are theories? Series of statements about relationships between variables that, taken together, attempts to explain some natural phenomenon
How can we study Behavior? Case Studies Surveys Naturalistic Observations Correlational Studies Experimentation
