Motion Energy | The energy present in moving things such as the wind,a racing car,or a soaring ball |
Chemical Energy | The energy stored in materials such as food,batteries,dynamite,and gasoline |
Gravitational Energy | The energy stored in objects that are in position to fall (Once they fall,the type of energy changes) |
Elastic Energy | The energy stored in stretchy objects (Like rubber bands or springs) |
Heat Energy | The energy a substance has as a result of its temperature (A higher temperature equals more energy) |
Light Energy | The energy carried by light rays |
Electrical Energy | The energy that electricity provides |
Sound Energy | The energy carried by sound waves |
Thermal | Another word for heat |
Temperature | Measurement of the amount of thermal energy an object contains |
Friction | The force resisting relative motion of surfaces that touch,when two objects rub against each other in opposite directions,friction is created |
Molecule | The smallest particle in which an element or compound can be divided without changing its properties |
Radiation | When heat energy travels by invisible waves through space from the source (Sun) |
Covection | The transfer of heat by a moving gas or liquid (Steam) |
Conduction | Heat moving through a solid (Stove Top) |
Insulators | Substances that do not readily allow heat to pass through them |
