| Kinetic Energy | Energy in motion or being used |
| Motion Energy | The energy present in moving things such as the wind,a race car,or a soaring ball. |
| Chemical Energy | The energy stored in materials such as food, batteries,dynamite,and gasoline. |
| Gravitational Energy | The energy stored in objects that are in a potential to fall. (Once they fall the type of energy changes) |
| Elastic Energy | The energy stored in strechy objects. (Like a rubber band or spring) |
| Heat Energy | The energy a substance has as a result of its temperature.Higher temp.= more energy. |
| Light Energy | The energy carried by light rays. |
| Electrical Energy | The energy that electricity provides. |
| Sound Energy | The energy carried by sound waves. |
| Thermal | Another word for heat. |
| Temperature | Measurement of the amount of thermal energy an object contains. |
| Friction | The force resisting relative motion of surfaces that touch.When two objects rub against each other in opposite directions,it creates friction. |
| Molecule | The smallest particle into which an element or compound can be divided without changing its properties. |
| Radiation | Where heat energy is travel by invisible waves through space from the source.(sun) |
| Convection | The transfer of heat by a moving gas or liquid.(steam) |
| Conduction | Heat moving through a solid. |
| Insulators | Substances that do not readily allow heat to pass through them. |
