Chapter 1 Part 3- Catagories of Critical Thinking

What is focusing? Define problems, set goals, and select peices of information
What is information gathering? formulate questions and collect data
What is remembering? Store information in long term memory and retrieve it
What is organizing? Arrange information in an easily understood and presentable manner
What is generating? Use prior knowledge to infer and elaborate new information and ideas
What is integrating? Combine, summarize, and restructure preexixting and new information
What is evaluating? establish criteria and asses quality of ideas
What is caring in context with public speaking? Being receptive to what another has to say and open to hearing other's voice more completely and more fairly than we otherwise would
What is the critical thinking process according to Stuart Rankin and Carolyn Hughes and associates? Focus, gather information, remember, organize, generate, integrate, evaluate
