Figurative language types

Simile a comparison between two unlike things, and it uses like, as, or than
Metaphor a comparison between two unlike things (does not use like, as, or than)
Onomatopoeia a word that sounds like what it means
Personification giving human qualities to non-human things
Alliteration the repetition of a consonant sound at the beginning of words
