Work, Energy, and Machines
| Term | Definition |

| Work | Is the use of force to move an object some distance in the direction of the force. |
| Energy | Is the ability to do work |
| Power | Is the rate at which work is done. |
| Kinetic Energy | Is the energy of motion. |
| Potential Energy | Is the energy an object has because of its position condition or chemical composition. |
| Mechanical Energy | Is the energy possessed by an object due to its motion and position. |
| Machine | Is any device that helps people do work by changing the way work is done. |
| Mechanical Advantage | Is the number of times the machine multiplies the input force. |
| Mechanical Efficiency | Is a comparison of a machine's work output divided by the work input, expressed as a percentage. |
| Lever | Is a Simple Machine that has a bar that at a fixed point. |
| Fulcrum | The fixed point is called a Fulcrum |
| Wheel and Axle | Is a Simple Machine that is made of a wheel connected to a smaller cylindrical object the axle. |
| Pulley | Is a Simple Machine that has a grooved wheel that holds a rope or a cable. |
| Inclined Plane | Is a Simple Machine that is a straight slanted surface. |
