| power | The rate at which work is done. |
| kinetic energy | The energy of motion. |
| potential energy | The energy an object has because of its position. |
| mecanical energy | The energy possessed by an object due to it's motion and position. |
| machine | Any device that helps people do work in a different way. |
| mechanical advantage | The number of times a machine multiplies the input force. |
| mechanical efficientcy | A comparison of a machines work output with the work output. |
| lever | A simple machine that has a bar that pivots at a fixed point. |
| fulcrum | The fixed point of a lever. |
| wheel and axle | A machine constructed of a wheel and a small cylinder. |
| pulley | A machine that has a grooved wheel that holds a rope or a cable. |
| inclined plane | A machine that is a straight, slanted surface. |
