How do we know Alek? We know Alek by how he speaks like royalty, acts like a spoiled prince in the beginning, and becomes a brave "man" by the end of the story by basically becoming a leader.
How do we know Deryn? Deryn in the beginning, is a girl pretending to be a tough Navy soldier that hates Clankers and in the end has respect for Clankers because they lent the Darwinists their engines to get the Leviathan back up-and-running.
How do we know Jaspert? Deryn's older brother that messed with her but also gave advice about the Navy and cared about her.
How do we know Dr. Barlow? Dr. Barlow is the Granddaughter of Charles Darwin and is very well respected. She is very smart and is also very caring when finding out about Alek's story.
How do we know Volger? Volger is a very tough fencing teacher in the beginning but in the end he becomes very understanding of Alek on the Leviathan.
How do we know Klopp? Klopp is a talented man with the Stormwalker and is respectful to Alek being a Prince. Klopp is also caring when Alek finds out his parents were killed.
