Elements and Irony

Leviathan Review

TermDefinition
Setting When and where the story takes place.
Foreshadowing Hints in the text that tell the reader about something that will happen later in the story.
Irony A tone created when things are opposite of what they should be or opposite how we think they should be.
Theme The story's message. (there may be more than one)
Tone Clues in the story that suggest an attitude toward the theme of the story or toward events that happen in the story
Mood Overall feeling created by how the story is told.
What affect does keeping of secrets have on the reader? It makes the reader what to keep reading to see what happens.
