TermDefinition
Period Each row in the table of elements.
Group Are each column on the Periodic Table.
Periodic Law Pattern of repeating properties in the periodic Table.
Atomic Mass Unit Is defined as one twelfth the mass of a carbon-12 atom.
Metals Are elements that are good conductors of electricity and heat.
Transition Metals Are elements that form a bridge between the elements on the left and right sides of the Periodic Table.
Nonmetals Are elements that are poor conductors of electricity and heat.
Metalliods Are elements with properties that fall between those of metals and nonmetals.
Periodic Table Is an arrangement of elements in columns, based on a set of properties.
Valence Electron An electron that is in the highest occupied energy level of an atom.
Alkali Metals The elements in group 1A
Alkaline Earth Metals The elements in group 2A
Halogens The elements in group A7
Noble Gases The elements in group A8
