Bipolar Disorder

what is Bipolar Disorder? it's a condition that causes your mood to swing back and forth between two opposite emotional states: depression and mania.
who gets it? all genders, ethnicity, and age groups get it equally
what part of the body does it affect? everything, due to risky behaviors
what are the symptoms? dramatic and unpredictable mood swings, excessive happiness, restlessness, racing thoughts, depression, loss of interests, and agression
what are the risk factors or causes? there are no known causes, but expersts believe abnormal functioning of brain circuits and chemicals can be a cause
how is the disease detected? if there's a manic phase and a depressive phase
what are the treatment options? medicine called Seroquel XR.
are there side effects for these treatments? yes high fever, dizziness, confusion, stiff muscles, and increased suicidal thoughts, and aggressive behavior
if i am diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, will i need to be on medication for the rest of my life? not really, but you are encouraged to stay on it if you are a threat
is there a test to tell ahead of time if i will get the disorder? no, but there are tests to evaluate if you think you have it.
