| positon | the location of an object |
| reference point | a location to which you compare other loctaions |
| motion | a change in position over time |
| speed | a measure of how far something goes in a given amount of time |
| vector | a quantity that has both size and dircetion |
| velocity | speed in a specific direction |
| acceleration | the rate at which velocity changes |
| centripetal acceleration | acceleration in a circular motion |
| force | a push or pull |
| net force | the combination of all the forces acting on an object |
| inertia | the tendency of all objects to resist change in motion |
| gravity | a force of attraction between objects due to their mass |
| free fall | when gravity is pulling it down and no other forces are acting on it |
| orbit | when an object travels around another object in space |
| fluid | any material that can flow and that takes the shape out of its container |
| pressure | the measure of how much force is acting on a given area |
| pascal | the SI unit for pressure |
| atmospheric pressure | the pressure caused by the atmosphere |
| buoyant force | an upward force that fluids exert on all matter |
| Archimedes' principle | that the buoyant force acting on an object in a fluid is an upward force equal to the weight of fluid that the object displaces |
