Unit 1

TermDefinition
Position The location of an object.
Reference point A location which you compare to other locations.
Motion A change in position over time.
Speed How fast something moves in a certain amount of time.
Vector A quantity that has both size and direction.
Velocity Speed in a specific direction.
Acceleration A rate of change in velocity.
Centripetal Acceleration Acceleration in a circular motion.
Force A push or a pull.
Net force The combination of all forces acting on an object.
Inertia The tendency for all objects to resist a change in motion.
Gravity A force of attraction of objects due to their mass.
Free fall When no forces are acting on an object, and gravity is pulling it down.
Orbit When an object travels around in object in space.
