Unit 1

TermDefinition
Position Describes the location of an object.
Reference point A location to which you compare other objects.
Motion A change in position over time.
Speed A measure of how far somethinng moves in a given amount of time.
Vector A quantity that has both size and direction.
Velocity Speed in a specific direction.
Acceleration The rate at which velocity changes.
Centripetal Acceleration Acceleration in a circular motion.
Force Simply a push or a pull
Net Force The combinaton of all forces acting on an object.
Inertia The tendency of all objects to resist a change in motion.
Gravity A force of attraction between objects due to their mass.
Free fall When gravity is pulling it down and no other forces are acting on it.
Orbit When it travels around another object in space.
