| Term | Definition |

| Solid | A state of matter in which the material has a definite shape and volume. |
| Liquid | A state of matter in which the material has a definite volume but not a definite shape. |
| Gas | A state of matter in which the material doesn't have a definite shape or volume. |
| Kinetic Energy | The energy an object has due to motion. |
| Kinetic Theory | All particles of matter are in constant motion. |
| Phase Change | A reversible physical change that occurs when a substance changes from one state of matter to another. |
| Endothermic | The system in which the material is absorbing energy from it's surroundings. |
| Heat of Fusion | The amount of energy a substance absorbs as it melts. |
| Exothermic | The system in which the material is releasing energy into it's surroundings. |
