Book Parts

Book Parts with Matching Definitions

TermDefinition
Cover Outside part of the book which holds it together and protects the pages
Body or Text Main part of the book
Title Page Page in the front of the book that tells, author, title, illustrator, and publisher
Index A section that is usually at the end of the book with a list of words or topics arranged in alphabetical order
Table of Contents A section at the front of the book that lists the chapters or stories in the book
Glossary A section at the end of the book that gives the meaning of special terms in the book
Dedication Page This page mentions people who have helped the author in some way with the book
Spine The outer part of the book that covers the binding and faces out on the shelf. It is the backbone of the book.
