Motion and Forces

TermDefinition
Position Describes the position of an object
Reference Point A location to which you compare other locations
Motion A change in position over time
Speed A measure of how far something moves in a given amount of time
Vector A quantity that has both size and direction
Velocity A speed in a specific direction
Acceleration The rate a which velocity changes.
Centripetal Acceleration Acceleration in a circular motion
Force A push or a pull
Net Force The combination of all the forces acting on an object
Inertia The tendencey of all objects to resist a change in motion
Gravity The force of attraction between objects due to their mass
Free Fall When Gravity is pulling an object down
Orbit When an object travels around another object in space.
