| reference point | location to which you compare other locations |
| motion | a change in position over time |
| speed | a measure of how far something moves in a given amount of time |
| vector | quantity that has both size and direction |
| velocity | speed in a specific direction |
| acceleration | the rate at which velocity changes |
| centripetal acceleration | acceleration in circular motion |
| force | simply a push or pull |
| net force | combination of all the forces acting on an object |
| inertia | the tendency of all objects to resist a change in motion |
| gravity | a force of attraction between objects due to their masses |
| free fall | when gravity pulls down with no other force acting on it |
| orbit | when object travels around another object in space |
