Unit 1 lessons 1-4

TermDefinition
Position Describes the location of an object
Speed object is a measure of hoe far something moves in a given amount of time.
Vector Quantity that has both size and direction
Velocity Speed in a specific direction
Reference point location to which you compare other locations
Motion Change in position over time.
Acceleration Rate at which velocity changes
Centripetal acceleration Acceleration in a circular motion
Force Simply a push or a pull
Net Force Combination of all the forces acting on an object
Inertia tendency of all objects to resist a change in motion
Gravity Force of attraction between objects due to their mass.
Free Fall When gravity is pulling it down and no other forces are acting on it
Orbit When something travels around another object in space
