Motion and Forces

Unit 1,Lesson 1-4

TermDefinition
Position describes the location of an object
Reference Point is a location to which you compare other location
Motion is a change in position over time
Speed of an object is a measure of how far something moves
Vector is a quantity that has both size and direction
Velocity is the speed in a specific direction
Acceleration is the rate at which velocity changes
Centripetal Acceleration acceleration in circular motion
Force is a simply a push or pull
Net force the combination of all the forces acting on a object
Inertia is the tendency of all objects to resist a change in motion
Gravity is a force of attraction between objects due to their mass
Free Fall when gravity is pulling it down and no other forces are acting on it.
Orbit when a object travels around another object in space
