Unit 1: Lessons 1-4

TermDefinition
Position describes the location of an object
Reference Point a location to which you compare other locations
Motion change in position over time
Speed a measure of how far something moves in a given amount of time
Vector a quantity that has both size and direction
Velocity is speed in a specific direction
Acceleration the rate at which velocity changes
Centripetal Acceleration Acceleration in a circular motion
Force Push or a pull
Net Force combination of all the forces acting on an object
Inertia the tendency of all objects to resist a change in motion
Gravity a force of attraction between objects due to their mass
Free fall when gravity is pulling it down and no other forces are acting on it
Orbit the path that an object follows as it travels around another object in space
