Motion and Forces
| Term | Definition |

| position | describes the location of the object |
| reference point | locations in which you compare to other locations |
| motion | a change in positions over time |
| speed | how far something moves in a given amount of time |
| vector | quantity that has both size and direction |
| velocity | speed in a specific direction |
| acceleratoin | the rate at which the velocity changes |
| centripetal acceleration | acceleration in a circular motion |
| force | a push or a pull |
| net force | the combination of all forces acting on an object |
| inertia | the tendency of all objects to resist a change in motion |
| gravity | force of attraction between objects due to their mass |
| free fall | when gravity is pulling it down and no forces are acting on it |
| orbit | when an object travels around another object in space |
