Motion and Forces

TermDefinition
Position describes the location of an object
Speed a measure of how far something moves in a given amount of time
Reference Point the location to which you compare other locations
Vector a quantity that has both size and directions
Motion a change in position over time
Velocity the speed in a specific direction
Acceleration the rate of which velocity changes
Centripetal Acceleration acceleration in a circular motion
Force a push or pull
Net Force the combination of all forces acting on an object
Inertia the tendency of all objects to resist a change in motion
Gravity a force of attraction between objects due to their mass
Free Fall when gravity is pulling an object down and no other forces are acting on it
Orbit when an object travels around another object in space
