| energy | the ability to move or change matter |
| transformations | to change matter from one form to another |
| solar energy | energy from the sun |
| mechanical energy | energy of movement/motion |
| thermal energy | energy from heat |
| electrical energy | energy that is produced when electrons move from one place to another place |
| sound energy | energy made by vibrating objects |
| chemical energy | energy stored in fuels or food |
| circuit | the path electricity takes from one end of the battery to the other |
| conductor | a material that allows heat energy or electricity to pass through easily |
| electromagnet | a temporary magnet created by a flow of electro current around an iron bar |
| insulator | a material that does not let heat energy or electricity pass through it easily |
| switch | a device that opens and closes an electric circuit to stop and start the flow of electricity |
| light | a form of energy that travels in a straight line and can move through empty space where there is no air |
| medium | a type of matter such as glass, water, air |
| reflect/reflected/reflection/reflective | the bouncing back of light |
| refract/refracted/refraction/refractive | the bending of light |
| prism | a medium that distorts, slants, or colors whatever is viewed through it |
| lens | a material with different curves on each side that bends light rays as they pass through it |
| force | cause of motion or change, a push or pull |
| push | to move an object away |
| pull | to bring an object forward |
| gravity | a force that attracts objects to each other |
| motion | a change in the position of an object |
| friction | a force between two surfaces rubbing against each other which effects motion |
| magnetism | a force that pulls magnetic materials toward each other |
