Literary Defination
| Literary Elements | Defination |

| Plot | The sequence of events in a literary work. Plot includes characters and a central conflict |
| Conflict | It is struggle between opposing forces. Sometimes this struggle is inside the character, other times its with other opposing character, the antagonist, forces of nature, or a social convection or custom |
| Setting | It is the time and place of the story which influences the main plot and the main conflict of story |
| Characterzation | It is the techniques that a writer uses to develop characters: 1. Through physical description 2. Through characters speech, thoughts, feelings or actions. 3. Through the speech, feelings, thoughts or actions of other characters. |
| 4. Through direct comments about a characters nature. | |
| Foreshadowing | It is the use, in a literary work, of clues that suggest events that yet to occur |
| Flashback | It is a section of a literary work that interrupt the sequence of events to relate an event from earlier times. |
| Point of View | It is the perspective, or vantage point, from which a story is told. Narrative - Supplies info about characters, event etc. Limited First-Person Point of View - Use of "I, me, we" etc. Limited Third-Person Point of View - Use of "he, she, it , they" etc. |
| Protagonist-Antagonist | The main character of the story usually the good guy is Protagonist. Antagonist is the main source of the conflict usually the bad guy |
| Symbol | A person, place, thing , or event used to stand fro something abstract , such as an idea or emotion, in a literary work |
