| Literary Term | Definition |

| Plot | what happens in a story |
| Conflict | struggle between two opposing forces. Person vs. person, person vs. society, person vs. nature, person vs. self, person vs. fate |
| Setting | Time and place of the action of the story |
| Characterization | it can be a human or animal or a creature 1.Physical 2. speech 3. interaction with other characters 4. personal history. can be based on how a person looks and their personality. |
| Foreshadowing | Write's use if hunts or clues to indicate an event that happen later in the story. It increases suspence, contributes to the mood, make the event believable. |
| Flashback | A flashback is a conversation, an episode, or event that happened before the beginning of a story. |
| Point of view | The perspective or vantage point from which the story is told. |
| Characterization continue | 1) Through physical description 2) Trough a character's speech, thoughts, feelings, or actions 3) Through the speech, feelings, thoughts, or actions of other characters 4) Through direct comments about a character's nature. |
| Flashback 2 | is an interruption in the narrative to show something that happened before that time. |
| Protagonist | The main character of the story(the good guy) |
| Antagonist | The main source of the conflict(the bad guy) |
| subplot | it is less important in a series of events within the main plot. |
| Narrative | Supplies information about the characters |
| point of view- Limited First Person | I, me, we |
| point of view- Limited Third Person | He, she they |
| point of view- Omniscient Third Person | Narrator appears to know what everyone is thinking and feeling |
