| Extreme niches: two types | Entrapping and Enabling |
| Entrapping Niches | *highly stigmatized: people commonly treated as outcasts *turn to their "own Kind" thereby restricting social world *totally defined by social category *separate and individual aspirations and attributes not usually considered...no upward mobility. |
| Entrapping Niche continued | few incentives for long term goals little reality feedback little chance to learn new skills economic resources are sparse often reserved for those on margins of social life |
