TermDefinition
Scientific Law A rule of nature that tells you what will happen under certain conditions.
Volume The amount of space occupied by an object.
Technology Another term for applied science.
Theory An explanation based on many observations supported by experimental results.
Standard An exact quantity that people agree to use for comparison.
Mass A measurement of the quantity of matter.
Density The mass per unit volume of a material.
Inertia The tendency of an object to resist change in its motion.
Speed The rate of change in an object's position.
Net Force The sum of all the forces acting on an object.
Balanced Force The net force acting on an object is zero.
Velocity The speed of an object and the direction of its motion.
Acceleration The rate of change of the velocity of an object.
Unbalanced Forces Unequal forces pushing in opposite directions.
Negative Acceleration What a car has when approaching a red light
Positive Acceleration What a car has when the light turns green and it takes off.
