| chronology | the order in which a series of events happened (年代顺序) | This is a chronology of the events of last year. |
| clarify | to make sth clearer or easier to understand (澄清) | She asked him to clarify what he meant. |
| coherent | logical and well organized; easy to understand and clear(有条理的) | a coherent policy for the transport system |
| compile | to produce a book, list, report, etc. by bringing together different items, articles, songs, etc. (编写,编纂) | We are trying to compile a list of suitable people for the job. |
| concise | giving only the information that is necessary and important, using few words (简明的,简洁的) | a concise summary |
| concrete | based on facts, not on ideas or guesses 确实的,具体的(而非想象或猜测的) | It is easier to think in concrete terms rather than in the abstract. |
| consequence | a result of sth that has happened (结果) | to suffer/face/take the consequences of your actions |
| consistent/consistently | always behaving in the same way, or having the same opinions, standards, etc. (一致的;始终如一的) | We must be consistent in applying the rules. |
| consult | to go to sb for information or advice (咨询,商量) | Have you consulted your lawyer about this? |
| contradict | to say that sth that sb else has said is wrong, and that the opposite is true (反驳) | You've just contradicted yourself |
| convert | to change or make sth change from one form, purpose, system, etc. to another (使)转变 | The hotel is going to be converted into a nursing home. |
| correlate | to show that there is a close connection between two or more facts, figures, etc. (相互关联的) | Researchers are trying to correlate the two sets of figures. |
| criteria | a standard or principle by which sth is judged, or with the help of which a decision is made (评判或作决定的)标准,准则 | What criteria are used for assessing a student's ability? |
| cumulative | having a result that increases in strength or importance each time more of sth is added (在力量或重要性方面)聚积的,积累的 | the GPA is cumulative |
| deduce | to form an opinion about sth based on the information or evidence that is available (推论;推断) | Can we deduce from your silence that you do not approve? |
| define | to say or explain what the meaning of a word or phrase is (解释) | Life imprisonment is defined as 60 years under state law. |
| develop | to gradually grow or become bigger, more advanced, stronger, etc.; to make sth do this (使)成长,发展 | The child is developing normally |
| depict | to show an image of sb/sth in a picture (描绘;描画) | The artist had depicted her lying on a bed. |
| differentiate | to recognize or show that two things are not the same (区分;区别) | It's difficult to differentiate between the two varieties. |
