Panic Disorders Recurrent and unexpected panic attacks. Concern about expected future panic attacks or about losing control.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder Excessive anxiety and apprehension over a number of life circumstances for a period of at least 6 months. Worry is difficult to control. General anxiety symptoms such as vigilance, muscle tension, restlessness, edginess, difficulty concentrating
Acute and Posttraumatic Stress Disorders Re-experiencing a traumatic event through recurrent and intrusive memories and dreams. Attempts to avoid thoughts of event andd to remain emotionally detached from event. Increase arousal manifested by sleep disturbances, temper outbursts, concentration
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Recurrent and persistent intrusive thoughts and impulses. Attempts are made to suppress thoughts/behaviors. Thoughts/behaviors recognized as unreasonable.
Phobias Persistent, unrealistic fears of specific objects or situations. Exposure to feard stimulus produces intense fear or panic attacks. Avoidance responses are almost always present. Anxiety dissipated when situation not confronted
