What do scientists do? scientists make sense of nature & improve our world through observation and expirementation.
Define Observation. OBSERVATION-recognizing and noting some FACT to gather infomation about the world. Obsrvations must be specific an accurate, not relative, so that it means the sam to everyone. EXAMPLE: incorrect-burning th bag smelld nasty.Correct-the burning bag smelled
How to do you make and observation? You make an observation using your five senses: See,Touch,Taste,Listen,Smell. (Remember never touch an unknown substance.)
Name & Describe th 2 typs of observations? Observations can be Qualitative or Quantitative.
Give an example of each type of observation. Qualitative observations-factual description that do Not use numbers. Example: Mr. Johns has blue eyes.Quantitave observation-Factual dscription Example: Mr. Jones has two eyes.
define Inference. INFERENCE-a possible explanation or guess about an observation.
Give an example of inference. example: you leave the movie theater and see th groud is wet so you infer that it rained.
