What do scientists do? scientists make sense of naure & improve our world through observation and experimentation.
define obsevation. Observation- recognizing and nothing some FACT to gather information about the world. Observation must be specific and accurate, not relative, so that it means the same to everyone. Example: incorrect- the burning bag smelled similar to rotten eggs.
How do you make observations? You make observation using your fivesense: see, touch, taste,Listen, smell (remember never touch or taste an unknown substance)
Name & Describe the 2 types of observation. Obsevation can qualitative or quantitive.
Give an example of each type of obsevation. Qualitative observations-factual desciptions that do use numbers. Examples:Mr.Jones has blue eyes. Quantitative observations- factual descriptions that do use numbers. Example:Mr.Jones has two eyes.
define inference Infenece-a possible explanation or guess about an observation
Give and example of inference. Example: you leave the movie theater and see the ground is wet so you infer that it rained.
define Prediction make a forecast
define classify Group by similar characteristics
define qualitative observation Use ou sense to gather information
define quatiative observation measure to get information
