Scientific Method the process in science of using the 6 step method to solve a scientific question. Problem, Hypothesis, Materials, Procedures, observations and a conclusion
Observation Using your senses to gather information about something.
Data information gathered using your senses like smell, appearance, feeling, sounds.
Hypothesis If _______ then _______ statement that is a PREDICTION of the outcome of the study.
Manipulated Variable The one factor that a scientist changes during an experiment.
Responding Variable The factor that changes as a result of changes to the manipulated variable in an experiment.
Responding Variable Also known as the DEPENDENT variable.
Manipulated Variable Also known as the INDEPENDENT variable.
Controlled Variable A factor that ALWAYS stays the same.
Controlled Experiment An experiment in which all of the variables except for one REMAIN the same!
Conclusion means summing up what you learned from the investigation of your experiment. Does the DATA support or not support your Hypothesis?
