Describing and Measuring Motion

TermDefinition
motion the distance between an object and itself is changing.
reference Is a place or object used for comparison to determine if something is in motion.
International System of Unites Is a system of measurement.
meter Is a little longer than a yard.
speed Is the distance the object travels per unit of time.
average speed divide the total distance traveled by the total time.
Instantaneous speed Is the rate which and object is moving at a given instant in time.
velocity Is speed in a given direction.
slope The steepness of a line on a graph.
