Sir Francis Galton Believed hearing, reaction times etc were a measure of intelligence. Tested on Torres Strait Islanders and found that there weren't many differences.
Charles Spearman Two factor theory. Suggested that if you do well on one test, you'll do well on another because both involve general intelligence (g). Some correlated stronger because each measurement included a factor specific to each test (specific intelligence/ s).
