Logic and Critical thinking basic definitions
| Term | Definition |

| Proposition | A sentence that can be true or false. |
| Argument | A set of propositions one of which the conclusion is claimed to follow the others |
| Deductive Argument | An argument for which we are prepared to make the claim that if the premises are true the conclusion must be true |
| Inductive Argument | An argument for which we are prepared to make the claim that the premises are evidence for the conclusion, though they do not guarantee it. |
| Valid Deductive Argument | A deductive argument such that if the premises are true the conclusion must be true |
| Invalid Deductive Argument | A deductive argument that is not valid. The premises can be true but the conclusion false. |
| Sound Deductive Argument | A valid argument where every premise is true. |
